Animation

Spot and Tot is my senior thesis for the Savannah College of Art and Design. Its a 2-minute short about a goofy do and a mischievous baby at odds with each other. My inspirations were Tom and Jerry, as well as the Looney Tunes shorts by Clampett and Avery. It showcases my “pudding”-style of animation which is still developing and will hopefully evolve into something I can readily call my own.

The entire piece was animated by hand in Flash CS5, the backgrounds were also created in Flash. After Effects CS5 was used for compositing, color correction  and camera movements.

Macman is a parody of Batman and the rivalry between Microsoft and Apple. Its intentionally over-dramatic and a little campy. I originally wanted the character to throw Apple’s “spinning wheel of death”, but opted for him to use a sword instead – much wackier. All animation as done by hand in Flash CS5 and the compositing and particles were done in After Effects.

The music comes from the Gargoyles theme.

The Cat and the Rats is a short 15-second gag starring City Cat and Mousey Mousey (The other rats remain unnamed). It consists of three shots. The animation was drawn in Flash and the compositing and color correction was done in After Effects. The backgrounds were modeled and textured in Maya 2011.

The main mouse character is based off of my stuffed animal “Mousey Mousey”.

“Amplify Your Animation” is a 15-second commercial for Adobe’s Flash CS5. The character is a spoof on The Flash, DC’s speedster.  It was a class assignment and we were given the option to make a commercial for an Adobe product. My intent was to show what the Flash software was capable of for animators. Ironically, the backgrounds are CG and were created and complosited in After Effects.
